Hello again!

So sorry that I have been slacking on the blogging......
Since the last time I posted I have had my teeth slenderized, had my attachments put on and received my aligners.

First I am going to explain what goes on when your teeth are slenderized. Because my lower teeth are crowded  Dr. Lewinger had to make some space between them in order to line them up. He used special abrasive strips, kind of like dental sand paper to make tiny spaces between my lower front teeth.  He said not to worry the spaces will close as the teeth straighten.

Next are the attachments, the best way to describe these are little bumps that are glued to your teeth temporarily. They are tooth coloured, made from the same material that is used for the white dental fillings. These attachments are used to help keep the aligners on as well as aid in moving certain teeth in the desired direction. They are removed when your Invisalign treatment is finished. I am getting six to start and am getting one added on aligner nine (18 weeks). The one added later is to move my tooth second from the front because it is shorter than the one on the other side.

Finally, Dr. Lewinger fits my clear aligners. He checks that they fit properly, makes sure there are no rough spots also that my gums aren't being pinched. He gave me some special sticky wax just in case my tongue or cheeks get irritated from having something new in my mouth. It's like when you have to break in a new pair of heels, it takes a little bit of time to get used to.
This appointment was a very exciting one for me, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be as well. Completely pain free, no freezing needed. It felt a little weird getting my teeth slenderized, but not at all painful.
My advice is to make this appointment when you don't have a hot date or dinner party to go to within the next 3-4 days, only because the aligners fit tightly and your teeth are moving and are a little bit sore.
I only felt discomfort for the very first set of aligners for about 3 days when I was eating crusty bread or hard foods, softer foods were fine. When I put in the second set of aligners after two weeks they felt tight but there was no discomfort while eating.

My bag of goodies :)

Wearing my aligners, u cant even see them!
