My First Invisalign Appointments

Hello, my name is Chanelle,

I am Dr. Lewinger's assistant, patient and I also model with an American race team part time. I will be blogging about my experience straightening my teeth with Invisalign at Dr. Lewinger 's new, state of the art and environmentally friendly office. Please follow me through this experience.

My first visit to Dr. Lewinger's office, Marketplace Dentistry, was great. It is in the Maple part of Thornhill Woods, which is essentially in Vaughan. It was easy to find...I didn't even get lost! Here's the link to the website, where there is a map, so you won't get lost either! :) --> http://www.marketplacedentistry.ca/

The first appointment consisted of taking impressions so Invisalign can make replica models of my teeth how they were before treatment, taking pictures of my teeth, smile and facial profile as well as going over the things I would like to change about my smile and things Dr. Lewinger thought could be improved as well. There are always things we as patients look over, we are concerned about cosmetics Dr. Lewinger looks at the overall picture and takes my bite and even places where I get food caught between my teeth into consideration.

So impressions, in case some people have never had them, are pretty simple. Dr. Lewinger gets trays and fits them to my mouth. One for upper and one for the lower. The impressions are taken in two steps so that they are super accurate. First he puts in a thick putty like material and puts it in my mouth and presses it down onto my teeth. He jiggles this first impression around a bit to make space around my teeth. The second step is another impression done within the first impression, he uses the impression he just took, with the space around my teeth and refills it with a more flowable putty material. This is what makes the impression very accurate, as it flows into every nook and cranny in my teeth :)
Pictures are just that, photographs, close ups of my teeth from different angles as well as my front and side profile shots. I have attached my "before" pictures, so everyone can see how I started out.

Everyone always told me that my teeth were perfect, but me working in the dental field I started noticing little things that could be improved, and well, at 27 I finally decided to stop procrastinating and just do it!
